Very big bluefish at the middle grounds. Each trolling pass will most likely land you some fish and chances are it will be big with lots of fight. Fish in the 8 – 14 lb class. Some bass mixed in with the big blues, some up to 30 lbs. Trolled up a nice 20 lb bass in the Port Jefferson channel on Saturday morning as well. I you are looking for the big bass, you need to be persistent and go through your share of big bluefish and it is then that you may be rewarded with a trophy size bass. Some porgies are around with some being real big. What tough fighters these fish are. Definitely consider tackling this species for some great fishing. Fluke are being caught but you have to go through short fish (10 – 18 in) to get to the keepers. Typical 4 hr trip could yield 1-2 keepers fluke.
